Project Manager, Alternative Text

Job Description: 

The Alternative Text Project Manager oversees all stages of an alt-text project, including image evaluation, cost estimation, scheduling, alt-text writing, and delivery. The Alt-Text Project Manager also directly participates in writing and reviewing alt text, with support from the Team Lead and Director of Alternative Text Production.

  • Conducts image counts and complexity categorization for the purpose of cost estimation and scheduling
  • Communicates with clients and internal teams regarding project-specific expectations
  • Assigns in-house or freelance writers and provides job-specific instructions and support
  • Communicates with clients and writers regarding alt-text content and client feedback
  • Generates feedback summaries listing required revisions and sample rewrites
  • Writes alt text
  • Conducts alt-text review and revision for quality assurance
  • Tracks and reports delivery dates and other production-related data
  • Identifies and preemptively addresses possible delays related to productivity, availability of materials, and unexpected changes in project scope
  • Communicates all production-related issues with Team Lead and/or Director
  • Coordinate the creation of thumbnail templates for use in the final alt-text delivery
  • Delivers completed alt text to the respective client or recipient
  • Answers client inquiries regarding delivered alt-text content
  • Submits required documentation for final billing
  • Additional duties or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications: 
  • Associate’s Degree or higher
  • Prior experience in English language and composition, communications, mathematics, and/or the sciences, preferred
  • Prior experience in alternative text content, technical writing, preferred 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.…)
  • Experience navigating advanced technological systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Awareness of the client “perspective”; ability to maintain strong client and business relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-tasking within a fluid work environment
  • Ability to seek the support needed to meet client expectations
  • Capability to learn and adapt quickly to new systems (technological, organizational)
  • Strong business acumen

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Professional office (or remote) environment using office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.)
  • Typical 40-hour work week with extended hours depending upon the needs of business
  • Frequent sit, stand, walk
  • Occasional stoop, kneel, crouch
  • Frequent lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasional lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
